Can't Bear to Love
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Fantasy Adventure Team arrive at Brownstone Park to enjoy spending a day at a park while the air is still cool and relaxing before it gets to summer heat. The park ranger J. Audubon Woodlore greets them by the gate and gives them a brochure of the park. When the team's van take off to a parking lot, Ranger Woodlore leaves the gate post and enters the bear sanctuary.
He finds all the bears asleep so he takes out his whistles and blows on it heavily. The bears instantly wake up and scramble everywhere until he blows his whistle again and then they form in a line. Ranger Woodlore is impressed of their immediate call of duty. However, that changed his expression when discovers one bear is still asleep. He walked towards the sleeping bear and blows his whistles as loud as an upcoming train. That immediately awaken up the sleeping bear, making himself scramble like the others did before. The ranger cleared his throat loudly, causing the bear to pause. Next, the ranger points out to the bear to get in line, which the bear already did.
"Now that our friend Humphrey's up," spoke the ranger. "I have some news to share with you--today is the first day of mating season!"
"MATING SEASON?!" The bears shouted in enthusiasm. All the bears disappeared in the flash and suddenly reappeared looking all spiffy and handsome, with boxes of honeycomb and freshly picked flowers on hand.
"Hold on, boys," said the ranger. "There's more. Last year, a lot of you were beat up with heavier competition with the other male bears. So this year, I signed you all up in our new matchmaking program. I carefully selected the available lady bears for each of you eager bachelors. Oh, ladies!"
Ranger Woodlore whistles to bring the girl bears over to them, all of them are very beautiful and sophisticated. All the boy bears, including Humphrey, are instantly bedazzled by their amazing beauty.
"Humphrey," said Ranger Woodlore. "I have a lady bear already picked out for you. In fact, she is so enamored of you, I thought you two would make a great couple. Darlene! I have someone for you to meet!"
All of the sudden, Humphrey feels thunderous footsteps coming this way, turning his excitement to fear when a tall, huge and big-boned bear with a small pink bow on top of her head arrived. Darlene, being introduced by Ranger Woodlore, falls in love with Humphrey at first sight, greeting him with a squeezing hug that gives him a hard time breathing and escaping.
Watching with envy at his bear companions getting to know their prettier mates, he only sat and pout next to Darlene as she plucks out petal, determining where Humphrey loves her or he doesn't. Humphrey sees his honeycomb box and kicks it away, sending it flying. But Humphrey realizes that he kicked it too hard and sees the box flying towards a Rae the Lioness walking back towards the parking lot. He carefully sneaks out from Darlene while still being distracted by the flower and rushes to catch the honeycomb box. But then, the honeycomb box landed on Rae's hands and Humphrey pulls to a stop, panting with exhaustion.
"Is this yours, Mr. Bear?" Rae asked Humphrey. Humphrey nodded, still panting. Rae hands the box back to him. "Here. Go ahead and enjoy your honeycomb while you can. I say that because you don't want to create an uproar with the bees. Have a good day, Mr. Bear."
Rae walks away and arrived back at the van. Humphrey became surprised at Rae's initial reaction when his box landed on Rae but didn't get upset or angry. After seeing Rae take off with a camera on hand, being overwhelmed with her response, Humphrey has fallen in love with Rae the Lioness.
Humphrey is now determined to get away from Darlene so he can be close to Rae. He went to the nearby field to pick up a fresh bouquet of flowers as he sees Rae and the girls walking by carrying two canoes. Rae and Panthy carries the purple canoe, Teresa and Kairel carries the yellow canoe and Bruma carries the paddles. Humphrey hids himself behind the bushes until the girls closer and opens up his head and arms revealing the flowers. But suddenly, unaware of his blind spot, gets smacked by one of Bruma's paddles, causing him to go out cold.
Later on, the girls got the canoes ready and they are putting their lifejackets on. Humphrey pops up and carefully walks up to Rae with no intention of scaring her. But as he gets closer, a football lands on his left hand, wondering where it came from. Suddenly, Benny, Leo, Johnny, and the rest of the boys dog-piled on Humphrey, causing the ball to fly and land on the water. They simultaneously splashed into the water, making Humphrey and the girls wet.
The girls paddled their canoes following the currents of the river, enjoying the sites of Brownstone Park. Humphrey follows Rae swimming underwater, using a snorkel to breathe so he wouldn't be seen. When the girls stopped paddling to take a little break, Humphrey uses his chance to impress Rae by doing synchronized swim dances. But Rae never paid attention nor was she aware of Humphrey's presence as she is talking with the girls. But that caught Darlene's attention, giggling gleefully and applauding at Humphrey's swim dance. Humphrey screams when he saw Darlene and swims away.
Humphrey swam and swam from far away until he swims towards a waterfall and splashes into the lake. At first, Humphrey is relieved at he is far at reach from Darlene until he discovered that Darlene followed him, believing she is playing a romantic chase game. Being exhausted and disappointed, Humphrey gives up.
As the day of Brownstone Park coming to a close, The Fantasy Adventure Team packed up their stuff in their van.
"You know," said Rae. "All day, I can't help but feel that something is trying to get my attention."
"Nothing bad happen, did it, Rae?" Leo asked.
"Nope. Nothing bad, but--Nah, never mind. It's nothing to worry about."
All done loading their stuff, they leave Brownstone Park and drove home.
Meanwhile, Darlene continuously hugs Humphrey, squeezing him so tight, it's making her irresistible to stop.
"Aww," Ranger Woodlore sighed. "Don't we all love love?"
Humphrey whimpers himself in worry if he will ever get away from Darlene.
Hey Rae, Did you know that Ranger Woodlore has the same voice as Mr. Smee from Peter Pan?
